Summer is winding down, while the school year is looming!
Pause to reflect and consider if a UMC camp might be a good option for your family next summer. The brochures typically come out in January or February. For kids entering 3rd through 12th there are varied themes offered for week-long camp or for kids entering 1st – 3rd grades a 3-night general camp is offered. During the camps they are in a Christian setting: blessings before meals, devotions each day and friendships are made that can last a lifetime. There are counselors from other countries, and from all of NJ, adding to the depth of the experience. Kids can stay in cabins, hogans (mostly a tent, but with raised, wooden floors and wood walls about 2’ high where the tent attaches) or even camp under a tarp while canoeing or hiking in another state! There is a camp for skateboarders and one for daytrips to the shore and other NJ activities, and so many more themes each summer. When the brochures come out, why don’t you put it in your mind to take a look – you might see a camp that your child will love – and maybe they’ll invite a friend from church or from school! Don’t forget Epworth reimburses $75 for the first camp for members. The UMC Camps also have scholarship money available based on need. If you have any questions, contact Holly Garemore, 856-616-1950.
Look for a UMC Camp Q&A session in early 2011!
