Morning After Bible Study
We gather Monday mornings at 10:30 in the history room to discuss various scriptures that are often relevant to our Christian calendar. It is a great way to gain a greater understanding of our faith and the scriptures that draw us closer to God while our conversation draws us closer to one another. You are invited to stop in and be part of the fellowship.
- Do you know the central teachings of the Christian faith and how they tie to scripture?
- Do you want to know what is at stake in what the church teaches and what difference it makes in your own life?
Come and make the connection between believing and living.
Tuesdays 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Start Date: September 14
This is a class for people who come to study the faith they already have, for people who want more than to just recite the creeds because they are traditional. Through Christian Believer you will study not only the Bible, but also the writings of some of the church’s great leaders through the ages, both early and modern. You will also read selections from documents from church councils that dealt with questions, conflicts, and controversies about what constitutes Christian teaching. Yes, many are about issues the church faces today. Sign up in the narthex or church office.
Sunday, 9:30am to 10:30am
Location: Centennial Room or Back Office
Leader: Jeff & Sandy Hancock
This Bible Study is focused on a verse by verse commentary on a book of the Bible. The inspired scripture leads us to glorify God through His creation; His providing for our Salvation by His Son’s sacrifice on the Cross; His continued presence through the Holy Spirit; and our serving Him now, in His future renewal of the Earth in the Millennium, and for eternity in the new Heavens and Earth.
Our past studies are chosen by the class and have included the Books of Genesis, Exodus, Malachi, Zechariah, Jonah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Luke, John, Acts, Hebrews, I and II Thessalonians, and Revelation. We are currently engrossed in Isaiah. Appropriate conservative authors are selected for our commentaries, and are read and reviewed in class.
We correlate scriptures with Biblical Prophecies, Spiritual truths, faith issues, creation vs. scientific theories, new discoveries, current events, historical and geographical context, New and Old Testament concurrence, and our daily lives. Our spiritual growth and wisdom can be enhanced by a better understanding of Scriptures. We can be better Christians by understanding God’s control of History, the Now, and the Future.
