Christian Education Christian education is much more than just Sunday School at Epworth. It encompasses special Bible Studies and Summer Vacation Bible School and is a vital part of all our nurturing ministries and fellowship groups.
Children’s Ministries At Epworth, there are many opportunities for young people to learn about God's love, and to fellowship with others in the community of faith. Children and youth are very important in the life of the church at Epworth, and are a part of the many programs of the church from worship, to Sunday School, to various Youth Groups, and other activities. We are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all children, youth, and vulnerable adults, and have a paid nursery staff on Sunday mornings so that families may worship and learn together.
Bible Studies Classes that began fall 2009: Class Held During Lent 2010: Parish Nurse Program The Parish Nurse Ministry was developed to provide wholistic health ministry to the members of Epworth and recognized aggregates. Healing and caring activities were part of the ministry of Jesus, and continue to belong to the Church. It is then accepted that this congregation has a healing mission, currently promoted by the Parish Nurse. Luke 9:2 and John 10:10 continue to provide direction for this ministry. Past activities of the Parish Nurse Ministry have included: (Check the Bulletin Board, Newsletter, or Calendar for up-coming activities)
Communion for Shut-ins Advent & Christmas Programs Summer Block Party A fun-filled, Epworth Church Block Party has been held the past few years. The 5th St. block is literally blocked off from traffic and turned into a festive celebration for adults and kids alike. Past years events have included a "Jump for Jesus Moon Bounce", Fire Engine rides, an ambulance tour, a clown, face painting, washable tattoos, water balloon toss, dance performances, music, and of course lots and lots of food. This is always a fun "family time". Campus Ministry Campus Ministry at Epworth addresses a critical time in the spiritual life of young people as they leave home for the first time to attend college or join the armed services. Each UMW Circle sponsors one college student and stays in contact with them with special "finals" care packages, and cards for their birthday and special holidays. Methodist Camps Program Camping information about our United Methodist Camps is received by our Epworth Camp Coordinator, Holly Garemore, and posted on the church bulletin board and distributed to the appropriate youth organizations. Holly teaches a Sunday School lesson about camping in the early Spring. A record is kept of all Epworth youth who attend camp and the funds provided by the church. Please contact Holly if you need any additional information |
